I just read a piece by Mitch Zacks, Senior Portfolio Manager for the Zacks Funds and the firm’s “primary expert on quantitative investing,” titled 3 Common Investing Mistakes. And mistake number two was market timing. To quote the article, “Being able to time the market consistently and accurately is the hold grail of investing. No one, in the history of the stock market, has been able to do this.” So how is it that one of Cabot’s proudest achievements is something so difficult that no one has ever been able to do it?
Two quotes that pertain to investing the most are: "It's Hardest to Keep Things Simplest" and "Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication."
