My Favorite ETF for 2012

With all the volatility individual stocks have seen lately, you may be looking for an alternative investment. We suggest exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which are investment funds that are traded on stock exchanges. ETFs hold assets like stocks, commodities or bonds, making them less risky than most individual stocks. This report contains our favorite ETF for 2012. It's an ETF that has shown to be a steady performer in the past six months, while the stock market has produced not much more than extreme volatility.

The Cabot Wealth Advisory e-letter delivers independent, no-nonsense investment advice, focusing on growth stocks, emerging markets stocks, value stocks and more. You'll learn about hot new stocks and the market timing systems you need to profit from them. We work hard to help you make money! Get it today.

U.S. Wind Power Grows 39% in 2009

by on January 26, 2010
The American wind power industry added a blistering 39% of added capacity in 2009, the New York Times reported. The U.S. now receives nearly 2% of its electricity from wind turbines, up from virtually nothing a few years ago.

The American Wind Energy Association, in it annual report to be released Tuesday, said that the 9,900 megawatts of added capacity added last year was the largest on record, 18% more than 2008, another big year, reported the Times.

Since 2002, the country’s installed base of wind turbines has increased almost sevenfold, according to the Times, but the U.S. still lags Europe, which gets about 5% of its electricity from the wind.

The U.S. wind manufacturing industry now employs 85,000 people and makes about half the components made in wind farms, up from 25% in 2004, reported the Times.

Wind power and other alternative energy stocks are covered each week in Cabot Green Investor.
